What Email Room stores
Email Room is a free practice game made by Mr Reyy, a primary school English teacher in Malaysia. It is not an official product of any ministry or exam board. This page says, in plain words, what the game keeps and what it does not.
Playing without a class link
Nothing about the pupil is stored on our servers. The pupil's first name, year and stars are kept only on the device they play on.
On levels 4 and 5 the pupil's email is sent to an AI service to be marked (see "The AI feedback" below). We do not keep that email afterwards.
Playing in a teacher's class
When a pupil opens a teacher's class link, we store the pupil's first email for each question on level 4 and on level 5, so the teacher can read it. With each email we store the name the pupil typed, the stars, the AI's two marks, the date, and a random code for the device. We do not ask for or store a surname, school, address, phone number, photo or password.
Only someone who has the class's private teacher link can see this work in the game. Teachers: please keep that link to yourself. Mr Reyy, who runs the game, is able to reach the database to fix problems or to delete work when asked.
The work is deleted automatically after 90 days, unless the teacher chooses to keep it for up to 12 months.
Pupils should type their first name only, and should not write real addresses or phone numbers in their emails.
Teachers
Teachers do not have to sign in. For a class we store the class name, the year, how long to keep work, and the teacher's own question if they write one.
A teacher may choose to create an account, so that their classes appear on any phone or computer. For an account we store the teacher's name, email address and a scrambled form of the password (the password itself is never stored), and which classes belong to the account. A signed-in device keeps a cookie for 30 days so the teacher stays signed in. We do not send emails to this address and we do not share it. To have an account deleted, write to the address at the bottom of this page.
The other revision games
The same rules apply to the other UASA Revision games on this site. In the games for Parts 1 to 5, a pupil in a class sends the teacher a score and the answers to look at again, not an email. In Poster Mail (Part 7), the pupil's email is kept for the teacher and marked by the AI in the same way as in Email Room.
The AI feedback
The marks and comments on levels 4 and 5 are written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, a company in the United States. To do this, the game sends Anthropic the question and the pupil's email (which usually ends with the pupil's first name). Nothing else about the pupil is sent. According to Anthropic's terms for this service, it does not use this text to train its AI models and keeps it only for a limited time.
The AI's marks are an estimate to help pupils improve. They are not an official mark.
Other things to know
The game is hosted by Cloudflare, and classes and pupils' work are kept in Cloudflare's database service. To limit how much AI feedback is used each day, the game counts requests by the device's random code and by internet address. These counts are kept for about two days.
The game has no advertising and no tracking for marketing. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Deleting work, and questions
To have a class or a pupil's work deleted sooner, or to ask anything about this page, write to Mr Reyy at [email protected]. Please give the class name and, if you are the teacher, the class code from your pupil link.
